Zoos Victoria
Zoos Victoria has reached a remarkable milestone, with all four of its zoos now officially recognised with Quality Tourism Sustainable Accreditation. This prestigious certification highlights Zoos Victoria’s unwavering commitment to conservation, education, and sustainability, reinforcing its role as a leader in responsible tourism.

The Victoria Tourism Industry Council (VTIC) proudly announced that Kyabram Fauna Park has joined Melbourne Zoo, Healesville Sanctuary, and Werribee Open Range Zoo in earning this esteemed accreditation. The national Quality Tourism Sustainable Accreditation, delivered in Victoria by VTIC, acknowledges businesses that excel in sustainability, customer service, and operational excellence.

VTIC Chief Executive Felicia Mariani praised Zoos Victoria for setting a benchmark in the tourism industry.

“Achieving this accreditation across all four of their sites reflects their commitment to sustainability, wildlife care, and providing meaningful experiences for visitors,” she said.

Zoos Victoria CEO Dr Jenny Gray echoed this sentiment, expressing pride in the organisation’s achievement.

“We are so proud that all four of Zoos Victoria’s zoos are now carrying this accreditation, which is a reflection of our enduring commitment to conservation and sustainability in our operations and visitor experiences,” Dr Gray said.

This accomplishment is further amplified by Melbourne Zoo and Healesville Sanctuary’s nomination in the Major Tourist Attractions and Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Tourism Experiences categories at the upcoming Australian Tourism Awards. Their presence on this prestigious platform highlights their significant contributions to the industry and dedication to providing world-class experiences.

Zoos Victoria has long been at the forefront of sustainable tourism initiatives. Their ongoing efforts include habitat restoration, waste reduction, carbon neutrality, and community education programs that inspire conservation action. The accreditation reassures visitors that their experiences at Zoos Victoria properties align with the highest standards of environmental responsibility and ethical tourism.

For both local and international visitors, a trip to Zoos Victoria’s attractions is more than just an encounter with wildlife—it’s a chance to support a globally recognised institution that prioritises the well-being of animals and the planet.
