The Parrtjima Festival, the only Aboriginal light festival of its kind, is celebrating its 10th edition with an impressive and vibrant program set to light up Alice Springs from 4–13 April 2025. With a celebration of culture, creativity, and community, this year’s festival promises to be its most extraordinary yet.

A Light Display Like No Other

As always, Parrtjima will showcase breathtaking light installations created by First Nations artists. With more than 20 First Nations artists featured across six captivating installations, the festival will bring the stories of Australia's indigenous culture to life in vibrant, dynamic forms. Four brand-new installations by emerging and established artists will debut, ensuring a fresh and exciting experience for visitors.

Star-Studded Performances

The 10th edition ofParrtjima promises to be an unforgettable experience, with nightly performances that span music, comedy, and live art. Notably, country music legend Troy Cassar-Daley will perform his only free performance for 2025, making it a rare and special opportunity for attendees. Additionally, the Darwin Symphony Orchestra will make history with the festival’s first-ever ticketed orchestral performance, further amplifying Parrtjima's role as a major cultural event.

Comedy and Culture

This year, Parrtjima will take a step into the world of comedy with its inaugural comedy night. Featuring hilarious stand-up performances by Andy Saunders and Sean Choolburra, the comedy lineup will bring laughter to the heart of the festival. The event provides a space for both fun and reflection, as Indigenous comedians take to the stage to share their stories and perspectives.

Engaging Talks and Workshops

Parrtjima also offers an educational experience with a wide range of workshops and talks led by influential First Nations figures. Guests can immerse themselves in thought-provoking discussions with Bundjalung chef Mark Olive, language holder and ecologist Veronica Perrule Dobson, acclaimed filmmaker Rachel Perkins, and ABC Radio National’s Rudi Bremer. These sessions will provide deep insights into Aboriginal culture, language, sustainability, and the creative arts.
