A New Era for International Travelers
The visa exemption applies to citizens from Germany, France, Italy, Spain, the United Kingdom, Russia, Japan, South Korea, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, and Finland. These travelers will be allowed to stay in Vietnam for up to 45 days without the need for a visa, regardless of the purpose of their visit or their passport type. This policy is set to remain in place until March 14, 2028, making it easier for tourists from these nations to enjoy an extended stay in one of Southeast Asia’s most culturally rich destinations.
More Convenient Travel Options with E-Visa Expansion
In addition to the visa waiver for select countries, Vietnam continues to expand its e-visa system, which has been available since July 2020. Citizens from 80 countries are now eligible to apply for e-visas, which allow them to enter Vietnam through a range of international entry points, including 8 airports, 16 land border gates, and 13 seaports. This digital visa system streamlines the process of visiting Vietnam, providing greater convenience and accessibility for travelers from around the globe.
Vietnam’s Growing Tourism Appeal
Vietnam’s tourism sector has been thriving in recent years, with the country being recognized by the World Travel Awards in 2024 as "Asia's Leading Destination," "Asia's Leading Heritage Destination," and "Asia's Leading Nature Destination." These accolades reflect the country’s growing prestige as a travel hotspot, known for its beautiful landscapes, vibrant culture, and rich history.
In 2024, Vietnam welcomed approximately 17.5 million international tourists. The first two months of 2025 have already seen nearly 4 million visitors, a remarkable 30.2 percent increase compared to the same period last year. China has emerged as Vietnam's largest source of tourists, followed closely by South Korea, Taiwan, the United States, Japan, and several Southeast Asian nations.
