I was fortunate to visit the MRICC earlier this year when on tour with the Southern MICE Expo 2024 group of travel agents and media. As well as having an opportunity to look through the MRICC, we enjoyed a catered for midday meal in the form of a sit down buffet.
The project consists of a 1,500 capacity auditorium and a there is a banquet hall called the Grand Ballroom which has 250 seats. The banquet hall can be divided into three halls, holding 250 persons in each of the halls. There is also another banquet hall with a restaurant for nearly 500 persons. Also, there are four committee rooms with chairs and tables.

The conference hall is situated on a 28-acre plot of land, which is sustainably landscaped to highlight the glamorous exterior finishes of the complex. NSA carried out the Design and Construction Supervision for the MEP component in the Joint Venture of Debo-Sierra Construction Limited. The Magam Ruhunupura International Conference Hall is also known as MRICH. It is considered the country's second international conference hall after BMICH in Colombo.
The conference hall was constructed by the Urban Development Authority (UDA) with the assistance of the Korean International Corporation at a cost of about US$ 15.3 million. It was declared open on 7 November 2013 by then-President Mahinda Rajapaksa. The inauguration ceremony of the 2013 Commonwealth Youth Forum was the first international event that was held at the conference hall.
