In the article titled: "Central Vietnam is the new hotspot for meetings and incentive trips", Micenet gave many compliments to Da Nang and gave an analysis of why the city of Central Vietnam is emerging as an ideal MICE destination in the region.

“Central Vietnam is coming into its own as more international and domestic flights serve Da Nang, which is growing as a destination for conferences, meetings and incentive events”, stated famous travel website Micenet on 14th September 2023.

According to Micenet experts, there are many reasons that make Da Nang become a "rising star" in the region. One of the reasons is its location between two UNESCO world heritage sites – Hoi An, 30km southeast, and Hue, 100km northwest. The second reason is the abundance of luxury, five-star and local and international brand hotels in the city and along a 60km stretch of beach.

Micenet also referred to a report from Asia DMC travel company with 20 years in the event organisation field showing that many Asian markets, especially Singapore, India and Malaysia which pay great attention to MICE tourism. Korea and Taiwan (China) still show potential for MICE, the China market has yet to recover. European MICE demand has also returned. MICE tourist group sizes range from 30 to 200 people.

Mr. Subhash Chandar, general manager of Asia DMC said, this year, the Da Nang Department of Tourism is focusing on MICE events. It engages in foreign marketing, especially in India, organises roadshows, hosts family trips and attends trade fairs. It is also aiming to operate direct flights. All MICE group participants in Da Nang MICE event receive a gift.

Minecet named the InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort as a typical example of an ideal MICE destination. Although the number of visitors from the Australian market to Vietnam is mainly couples and FITs, up to now, the resort has received 6 reservations to organise seminars and conferences in the IT and health care fields; one is also pre-reservations for 2024.

InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort provides meeting rooms, function rooms, menus that can be customised upon request and the resort accommodates many outdoor activities such as sports, team building, corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities.

InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort consists of 2,100m2 of indoor venues – even a nightclub space for a great after-party – and outdoor spaces for team building, games and alfresco receptions suited to small- to medium-sized incentives, said general manager, Seif Hamdy.

Besides, InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort has created an environment to help the rare red-shanked douc langur move freely in the forest and have easier access to its feeding grounds.

In addition to InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort, Da Nang also owns a series of other hotels and resorts capable of organising events including Danang Marriott Resort & Spa, Pullman, Furama, Crowne Plaza, Hyatt Regency, Vinpearl and Sheraton Grand, etc. all have large conference centres. Venues such as APEC Park and Ariyana Convention Center also serve a variety of events.

According to Micenet, not only having beach view resorts, Da Nang also owns a great deals of tourist attractions, namely Marble sculpture art village in Ngu Hanh Son, or Sun World Ba Na Hills tourist area, an ideal destination for MICE groups to explore due to many experiences such as visiting the famous Golden Bridge, attractive recreation and entertainment areas and magnificent spiritual works.

Da Nang is also a four-season destination with festivals and events taking place all year round from culture, cuisine, music, cinema to sports and health. Corporate employee entertainment activities can be held on the occasion of the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF) in mid-year or the BRG Open Golf Championship. Da Nang now has 6 large and well-rated golf courses.

Micenet recommended that, from Da Nang, visitors can easily get to Hoi An Ancient Town to explore the heritage and enjoy dinner in bamboo houses in the middle of rice fields or a journey through the Hai Van Pass to reach the old imperial capital of Hue, with rewards for visitors being a series of ancient monuments and architecture, tombs of kings and pagodas, Buddhist monastery.
