The world class museums of Bathurst each have a unique part of the region's history to tell. It is essential to visit the National Motor Racing Museum as part of completing your ‘hot-lap' Mount Panorama / Wahluu. Explore Bathurst’s history as the railway town at the Bathurst Rail Museum. Get up close and personal with Bathurst's own T Rex skeleton at the Australian Fossil and Mineral Museum, plus browse the stunning collection of gems and specimens to gain an understanding of the earth's creation. History Hill Museum is a complete gold rush picture on your visit to Hill End, with thousands of artifacts and a restored underground mine. Ashes Speedway Museum is the motoring enthusiast dream, with a huge private collection of racing memorabilia.
Get grubby again at Baroos Farmstays, just outside Bathurst, experiencing life on a real working farm for the day. You can feed the chooks and Alpacas, take a ride on the sulky pulled by two lovable Shetland ponies and make Georgie pig do a few tricks. Choose to do a day farm visit, or stay overnight in the self-contained farm cottages or powered campground.

Mayfield Garden is the largest privately owned cool climate garden in the southern hemisphere, and was modelled on the palatial gardens of Europe. The garden is stunning at any time of the year but is best visited during their seasonal festivals when the entire estate is open to the public.
Improve your handicap at Baptist Golf Club, an 18-hole championship course right in town with stunning fairways and perfectly manicured gardens.

Following Cox's Road from Tarana towards Bathurst is Flat Rock Picnic Area. The tranquility of this riverside picnic area makes it a great place to stop and a very popular weekend camping stopover.
Ophir Road, once the way to the goldfields, allows you to soak in the varying tablelands landscape. Along the way are surprises like Abercrombie House and ultimately a return to the highway and detour to Macquarie Woods.
Accessed via the historic village of Hill End is Turon Crossing Reserve. This out-of-the-way reserve is the ideal place to get off the beaten track. Basic camping facilities, fishing and exploring the area would easily wile away a weekend.”
