The Seminole Tribe of Florida’s American Indigenous Arts Celebration

3 and 4 November 2023
The Seminole Tribe of Florida will stage its annual American Indigenous Arts Celebration on the museum’s festival grounds.

The Seminoles of Florida are descendants of 300 Indians who managed to elude capture by the US army in the 19th century.

It is a Federally Recognized Indian Tribe and the only one in America that never signed a peace treaty.

Taking place during Native American Heritage Month, the celebration is one of the top festivals in the Southeast USA and will feature a wide range of Seminole and Indigenous art, music, food and dance.

Highlights will include adult and youth fashion shows, live alligator wrestling, Native American dance performances by Native Pride, and the return of New Zealand’s HAKA Māori Cultural Experience.

Native artists and crafts will be on sale as will Seminole cuisine, including fresh fry bread. https://www.ahtahthiki.com/AIAC/

The Ah-Tah-Thi-Ki Museum is owned and operated by the Seminole Tribe of Florida.

Situated in the Everglades on a 66-acre cypress dome on the Big Cypress Seminole Indian Reservation, the museum has more than 5,000 square feet of gallery space.

Exhibits feature rare artifacts and lifelike dioramas that depict Seminole life at the turn of the century. In 2009, the Museum became the first tribally governed museum to be accredited by the American Alliance of Museums. www.ahtahthiki.com
