Sailing into Brisbane International Cruise Terminal yesterday, Carnival Luminosa has arrived home to Queensland’s shores for her second Australian cruise season.
The 31-day transpacific voyage home to Queensland departed Seattle on 15 September, visiting a number of exciting stops across Japan, the Philippines, and Indonesia, as well as crossing both the International Date Line and the Equator.
Angela Coleman, a dedicated Carnival Diamond member who has been cruising since 2008, celebrated her 50th Carnival cruise onboard the sailing to Brisbane. The milestone achievement was celebrated at sea with her husband Russell and six friends, as well as the ship’s crew who the couple says have become more like family.
On their journey to Australia, which is the Colemans’ second transpacific voyage on Carnival Luminosa, Angela said, “This milestone cruise is extremely important to us and has been just magical. The Okinawa stop was very special, as it’s where my husband and I started our life together 21 years ago, which brings back great memories. Australia is one of our bucket list destinations and the last 31 days with the fantastic crew, fun activities, and amazing food have felt like a dream come true.”
On the ship’s return, Carnival Cruise Line VP Kara Glamore said, “We’re so excited to have Carnival Luminosa back home in Brisbane, as we continue to invest in our commitment to the Sunshine State with 31 sailings this season. Our crew can’t wait to welcome Queenslanders back onboard for another season of Carnival-style FUN.”
Carnival Luminosa’s return to the FUNshine state will officially be celebrated next Sunday 22 October with an official flag-raising ceremony onboard the ship. Carnival Cruise Line will raise its new Flag of Fun for the first time, which has been designed for Queensland, by the people of Queensland. The flag, which will fly onboard for the remainder of the ship’s Aussie season, will feature photos submitted by Queenslanders that showcase all their favourite ways to have fun in the Sunshine State.
With 31 cruises departing from Brisbane in 2023/24, Carnival Luminosa is expected to inject approximately $30 million into the Queensland economy. Further cementing the brand’s commitment to the state, Carnival Cruise Line has also recently announced an official partnership with the Brisbane Bullets, a team that has been a mainstay of the Queensland community for over 44 years.
Carnival Luminosa will be homeported in Brisbane until April 2024, offering a range of fun-filled itineraries to beloved destinations including Airlie Beach, the Great Barrier Reef and South Pacific paradises including New Caledonia, Vanuatu and Papua New Guinea. Aussies will once again be able to experience the signature fun of Carnival Luminosa and rediscover onboard favourites such as Fahrenheit 555 Steakhouse, Sunset Bar, and one of the fleet’s largest spas and thermal areas at sea.
Carnival Luminosa has now embarked on her first cruise of the Australian season, a 7-night Great Barrier Reef sailing that departed from Brisbane yesterday afternoon.
