To say it has been a challenging time for the travel industry would be a wild understatement, so we're beyond excited to be able to bring you a spring issue of Luxury Escapes Magazine.
This issue was created by the Grin Creative team remotely, and focuses almost entirely on experiences here, at home.
Our main feature explores the ultimate Aussie adventures, from the Top End to Tassie.
It includes a piece by our editor, Kirstie Bedford, who writes about her trip to the Northern Territory's heart, just days before borders closed.
“I feel privileged to have been able to experience one of the country's most significant living cultural landscapes before travel was halted. It was my first time to Uluru and I hope those who read my story are as swept up by it as I was.
“Trips like this, and another that features in this issue, where I take to the skies over the Great Barrier Reef, make you realise how diverse and truly magnificent Australia is.”
Also in this issue our publisher, Justin Jamieson, heads to Tasmania's southeast coast on a luxury yacht for a four-day hike; and hits the warm waters in Western Australia's Ningaloo Reef, where he comes eye to eye with a humpback whale, before laying his head at the luxury Sal Salis remote safari camp.
He says it was a humbling experience.
“The haunting call of the huge, graceful humpback is magical. Nothing can prepare you for when one of these submarine size mammals glides beside you, meeting your gaze.'
We haven't forgotten the international inspiration we all so badly need right now either, and this issue also includes a feature on the best places to bunk down when you're travelling with extended family, from New Zealand's far north, to a 14-suite estate in the Dominican Republic in the Caribbean.
We are confident you'll find something in this special issue to inspire you to pull out those suitcases - even if it's a while before you can use them.
