SOUTH SOLITARY ISLAND LIGHTHOUSE TOURS

Visitors to Coffs Harbour can delight in a rare opportunity to explore NSW’s most remote lighthouse station with a helicopter trip to South Solitary Island and guided walking tour.

Located 18 kilometres offshore of Coffs Harbour, the guided tour takes visitors on the journey of a remote lighthouse keeper some 50 metres above the raging ocean below.

Tours run for a limited time each year with dates available in August.

Next tours are:
  • Saturday 6th & Sunday 7th August 2016
  • Saturday 13th & Sunday 14th August 2016
  • Friday 12th August 2016

The Lighthouse was automated in 1975 with all Keeper's and families leaving the island at this time.

The island has been abandoned since 1975, the Keeper's Quarters being left to the elements and the birds!

Access is restricted with the only chance to visit the island and view the quarters is by the tours held once a year by National Parks & Wildlife and Precision Helicopters
