The second Mong Ethnic Cultural Festival will be held in the northern mountainous province of Ha Giang in mid-November.
The festival will be organised by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in collaboration with the provincial People’s Committee.
The event will honour the rich culture of the ethnic group, in order to preserve and promote their cultural identity within Viet Nam’s unified and diverse culture, that counts 54 different ethnic groups, said Huynh Vinh Ai, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
Fourteen provinces nationwide with a large number of Mong people will also participate in the festival.
Viet Nam has about 800,000 Mong people, one of the country’s largest ethnic minorities. Most Mong people live in mountainous areas at a height of 700 metres to 1,500 metres above sea level in the north.
