Dalian Wanda Opens First Theme Park In China

Dalian Wanda Group, China’s largest private developer, recently opened its first Wanda City theme park in Nanchang, the capital of the southeastern Jiangxi province.

The $3 billion (20 billion yuan) theme park is the first of the 15 the company has planned.

The entire property houses an $800 million theme park, bamboo forests, an indoor shopping mall with cinemas, restaurants, numerous hotels and the world’s largest ocean park.

The theme is distinctly Chinese and, according to Wanda Chairman Wang Jianlin, the park is “a model for Chinese private enterprise; we want to establish a global brand for Chinese firms.”
