The Star Sydney wows with Five TAA NSW Award wins

On Thursday 21 July, The Star Sydney was awarded in five categories at the prestigious 2016 Tourism Accommodation Australia (TAA) NSW Awards for Excellence, held at Four Points by Sheraton Sydney.

Guests gathered to celebrate the winners of the awards that recognise the achievements and high quality of the New South Wales accommodation sector. The Star was the proud winner in five categories, highlighting the property’s exceptional bars, restaurants, spa and personnel.

Momofuku Seiōbo won Metropolitan Restaurant of the Year, Sokyo Lounge won Bar of the Year - Metropolitan Hotels, The Darling Spa won Health Club and Spa facilities of the Year, Jessica Aiken, Director of Beverage won Food and Beverage Employee of the Yearand Charles Brown, Concierge at The Darling received a highly commended for his entry in the Concierge of the Year category.

Greg Hawkins, Managing Director of The Star Sydney commented on the major achievement of the property in securing these titles.

“With the highest number of submissions received in the history of the TAA NSW Awards, these wins represent a truly fantastic achievement by a team of exceptional, customer-service orientated people. These wins truly highlight the first-class food and beverage offering we have, with two of our signature restaurants and bars, Momofuku Seiōbo and Sokyo Lounge, taking home the titles.

The TAA NSW Awards for Excellence are awarded annually to recognise tourism leaders across the state in more than 30 award categories. The Star Sydney was a finalist in 15 categories of the TAA NSW Awards for Excellence, taking home the title in five categories.

The Star received the following awards:
  • Food and Beverage Employee of the Year – Jessica Aiken, Director of Beverage
  • Metropolitan Restaurant of the Year – Momofuku Seiōbo
  • Bar of the Year Metropolitan Hotels – Sokyo Lounge
  • Health Club and Spa Facilities of the Year – The Darling Spa
  • Highly commended Concierge of the Year – Charles Adams at The Darling Hotel

The winning categories will progress to the national Australian Hotel Association Awards taking place on 29 November at The Star Event Centre.
