Jumeirah Himalayas Hotel Shanghai has launched a Monthly Concert Series showcasing inspired international and local musical acts. The performances will take place on the second Thursday of every month at the Sky Stage in the culturally inspired lobby lounge of Jumeirah Himalayas Hotel Shanghai .
The newly launched Sky Stage will host an eclectic array of live music, from contemporary jazz and Chinese folk to indie rock and more. Between 7pm and 9pm, everyone is invited to the lobby lounge to enjoy the live concerts, along with special drink discounts and gourmet bar snacks.
The Monthly Concert Series kicked off on Thursday 12 June 2014 at 7pm with a concert by Chinese indie folk singers, Ha Xiao Ma and An Lai Ning. Performing with acoustic guitars, these talented vocalists presented chill-out Chinese folk music with a hip modern spirit.
On Thursday 10 July, the Sky Stage welcomes one of China’s leading jazz bands, E Groove. Formed in 2006, the quartet regularly performs at music festivals around the country and is renowned for its original jazz sounds mixed with contemporary electronic influences.
On Thursday 14 August, international rock artist Tim Hassall will take to the Sky Stage. The singer and songwriter has performed around the world and released the full-length solo album Oh Restless Heart in 2010. Recently shortlisted for Time Out Dubai’s ‘Favourite Live Act’ Award, his style spans indie-rock, hard funk, world music and country. Future concerts will be announced shortly. Discounts on a range of beverages will be offered during the free Monthly Concert Series in the lobby lounge and a Bar Bites menu specially created by Executive Chef Tobias Pfister will also be available.
The Sky Stage is one of Shanghai’s most unique and atmospheric performance venues, where Chinese culture is offset by glittering modernity. Featuring a magnificent 260 sqm LED Sky installation and full-size rosewood antique pagoda, it’s a memorable setting to relax and enjoy the live entertainment.
In addition to the Monthly Concert Series, the Sky Stage hosts a daily programme of cultural activities, including a sunset incense ritual, tea ceremony and traditional musical performances. The live performances enhance Jumeirah Himalayas Hotel Shanghai’s reputation as a landmark hotel inspired by art and culture.
