Celebrate Thailand's Halloween; Phi Ta Khon, a Must-See Cultural Festival in Loei

Beyond the buzz of Bangkok and the powdery beaches of Koh Samui, Thailand keeps secret some interesting and undiscovered gems with a number of special annual events. Onyx Hospitality Group has created a special package for guests wanting to experience Thailand's lesser-known regions and attractions such as Phi Ta Korn in the province of Loei.

A place of outstanding natural beauty, Loei in the north-eastern province of Thailand is home to the annual festival known as Phi Ta Khon; a unique traditional merit making ceremony. Passed on from generation to generation, the Dansai community come together for this one-of-a-kind procession adorned in large vibrant masks, bells and costumes made of colourful pieces of cloth to make merit and be brought closer to Lord Buddha while paying homage to the spirits, the protectors of the village, to ask for rain for the coming farming season. Based on the lunar calendar, this year's festivities are planned to take place from 27-29 June 2014 and will involve a welcoming ceremony, local performers, dancing contests and a grand parade, in addition to distinctive religious processions, traditional Buddhist sermons, not to mention the various tasty food stalls to ward off hunger.

Loei Palace is offering the 'Phi Ta Khon Special Package' starting from THB 5,598 in a Superior room for a two-night stay.
