Hallyu began in Korea in the 1990's when popular Korean movies and TV drama series were exported and began to attract overseas fans. Since 2000, Hallyu, or the craze for Korean popular culture that first spread throughout Asia has expanded to Korean culture in general to include music, games, TV programs etc.

K-Pop which started in the 1990's led by pop groups like Super Junior and later Girls Generation who have a huge local and international following reached new heights when PSY came along with his Youtube video 'Gangnam Style' which has recently reached two billion hits on Youtube.

When visiting Korea you can enjoy the K-Pop energy in places like Hongdae Noriteo, a mecca for street performance. At clubs in Hongdae like Xindie and Club NB you can enjoy the youthful energy of this area and perhaps see the next K-Pop star being born.

Experience K-Drama by visiting the scenes of some of the most popular drama shows in Korea. At Gyeongbok Palace you can dress up in traditional Korean dress and become the main character of a historical drama. You can see some of the film locations of major thriller and action movies at COEX where numerous car chase scenes are filmed.

If you are interested in the life of a K-Pop star then you can spend a luxurious day out in Gangnam where you can experience everything from body treatments to beauty and luxury brand shopping. In Gangnam you can also eat where the stars eat at places like Gorilla in the Kitchen which is owned by the famous actor Bae Yong Joon. Gangnam is PSY's hometown so you can visit the nightclubs here for a bit of your own Gangnam Style.

K-TV Shows in Korea like 'Running Man' and 'We Got Married' have huge audiences and tourists can visit the film locations of these programs as well. So whether you enjoy Korean K-Pop stars, love Korean movies or want to meet PSY a trip to Seoul is a great way to have a memorable time in Korea.
