Addicted to Koalas? Full Immersion Therapy Now Available

Koalas are too adorable for words. Many visitors are so entranced they can't get enough. What if travellers could spend a whole day with wild koalas, and work to make their future brighter?

Now they can! Wildlife tour operator Echidna Walkabout has just launched a brand new voluntour for groups.

“Many of our students, gap year travellers, clubs and groups of friends can't drag themselves away from a wild koala” says Janine Duffy, Chief Koala Researcher. “They need Full Immersion: a whole day taking shifts to watch a wild koala, pulling out weeds to make their habitat better. The feeling of connection and satisfaction is immense!”

The majority of time on the project is habitat improvement: removing invasive weeds that destroy koala habitat. Volunteers also spend one-on-one time watching a wild koala and noting their every move. Results of this are compiled into Echidna Walkabout's long-term Wild Koala Research Project.

The tour is 7 hours total and departs and returns to Melbourne. Options are available to keep the cost within tight budgets.
