Cape Town
Cape Town has been voted The Telegraph Travel Awards’ Favourite City for 2013, at a ceremony held in London yesterday.

The Telegraph Travel Awards is an annual event, which asks readers to vote for their travel favourites in categories such as Best City Worldwide, Best Country Worldwide, Best Travel Website, Best Travel App and more. The Telegraph is one of Britain’s top newspaper and online news sources. This year’s survey garnered 75,000 consumer votes by Telegraph readers in the UK.

CEO of Cape Town Tourism, Enver Duminy, says; “Cape Town has received this award for two consecutive years now, and this clearly reflects the UK visitors’ desire to travel to Cape Town. The UK remains our biggest source market and visitors continue to return annually to further explore our diverse and inspirational destination. We would like to thank all those readers who voted for Cape Town as their favourite destination; it is always a proud moment when the end users are the ones who acknowledge the continued efforts of our City’s tourism industry and citizens to create memorable visitor experiences. We will continue to strive to ensure that Cape Town is a top value, accessible destination, with a warm welcome for travellers from across the globe.”

Cape Town was also recently placed as Number Three City in the World in the Lonely Planet’s Best in Travel 2014.

“The City of Cape Town is thrilled that Cape Town has once again been voted the world’s Favourite City by Telegraph readers – a fitting accolade as Cape Town celebrates being the World Design Capital 2014. We are continuously expanding our tourist product offering to keep the destination top of mind among UK leisure visitors and we are serious about the business traveller who appreciates doing business here with our world class facilities and infrastructure. Our ability to host mega events will soon ensure that industry will be busy all year round” says Councillor Grant Pascoe, Mayoral Committee Member for Tourism, Events and Marketing.

Cape Town has an exciting year ahead as it plays out its title of World Design Capital 2014
and celebrates twenty years of democracy with the rest of the country.
