The US State Department has committed over 30,000 USD in
non-refundable aid to a project restoring the altars at Trieu To temple,
a relic in the ancient Hue Imperial Citadel.
According to Chief of the provincial People’s Committee Office Hoang
Ngoc Khanh, the aid, which was channelled through the US consulate in Ho
Chi Minh City, will be used to compile a dossier on the relic in the
form of statistics, photos and paintings, strengthen the temple’s wood
frames and restore three altars as well as several parts that were
trimmed with red lacquer in others altars.
The temple is dedicated to the first ancestors of the Nguyen Dynasty,
Nguyen Kim and his wife. It is an important part of Hue Imperial
Citadel, which was recognised by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.
