Byron Bay Kombi Tours now offers daily orientation tours of this popular regional tourism mecca where visitors can quickly learn the lay of the land, assisted with insider tips on what to see and do throughout their stay.
The one-hour tours, in an eight-seater 1967 vintage split screen Kombi – the quintessential surfing vehicle – will be complemented by a range of private customised tours. The orientation tours will cost $25 per person.
The NSW Government, through its tourism and major events agency, Destination NSW, has supported the development of Byron Bay Kombi Tours through its 2011-12 Regional Tourism Product Development Program.
Tour operator, Alice Livingston, who also operates Cape Byron Kayaks and Byron Bay Goodtimes, says that Byron Bay Kombi Tours was designed to let visitors more easily discover Byron highlights.
“Byron Bay is quite spread out and one of its key features is that it has beaches that face North, South, East and almost West. It also has a vibrant arts scene as well as a brewery and cinema to name a few attractions. While they are not hard to find, they are not obvious just by walking down the main street,” she said.
“Taking visitors on a short orientation tour will ensure they get an idea of which beaches to go to, depending on the wind direction as well as an idea of what they want to experience and spend their time on during their stay. The tour will also highlight the key attractions of Byron Bay such as the Lighthouse.”
Tours will be offered three to four times per day for a maximum of eight people per tour. Well-known local driver/guides will also provide a genuine welcome, giving visitors the feeling they are friends of a local. The entire tour experience has been designed to allow visitors an inside look into the fish-bowl of Byron life rather than being an external observer.
