Impressive Progress on Sydney's New Expo Site

Construction of Sydney Exhibition Centre @ Glebe Island is galloping ahead. The temporary exhibition centre is now a reassuring reality on the vast tarmac fringed by the Anzac Bridge, Pyrmont, Sydney Harbour and Balmain.

The fine weather in Sydney over recent months has been a bonus for Lend Lease. With the slab now being poured, the new precinct is transformed with workers on the site seven days a week. Next week, cranes will start lifting the structures into place. Construction of the ferry wharf is also about to start.

The Exhibition and Event Association of Australasia (EEAA) and a group of members (including BIA) have been meeting weekly with Infrastructure NSW for over 3 months to provide detailed input to design and functionality of the space. The EEAA committee is also advising on transport and logistics, design of catering areas, signage, amenity of the precinct and marketing.

Event organisers are liaising directly with the operator, AEG Ogden regarding their bookings, contracts and detailed requirements.

Announcement of the ferry operator and caterer is imminent achieving another milestone in the lead-up to its opening in January 2014.
