Blue Sydney, A Taj Hotel's iconic WaterBar has been named "Bar of the Year" at the Tourism Accommodation Australia (NSW) Awards for Excellence 2012. This is the second year in a row that WaterBar has taken out the Award.
Adding to the excitement for the Blue Sydney team, the hotel's Director of Sales & Marketing Ben Johnson was Highly Commended in the Public Relations, Sales & Marketing Employee of the Year category.
Master of Ceremonies and well-known media personality Deborah Hutton presented the Awards to BLUE Sydney's Peter McIntyre and Ben Johnson at a black tie gala dinner with over 500 VIP guests and industry leaders in attendance on Thursday 26th at the Westin Hotel.
Established in 1997, the Tourism Accommodation Australia (NSW) Awards for Excellence are recognised as the most prestigious hospitality awards, honouring the achievement of excellence in a wide range of categories in the accommodation industry. Independent judges undertake an extensive interview and evaluation process with entrants and there are an impressive 58 finalists in the Property Awards and 19 finalists in the Achievement Awards. Winning hotels are judged on providing an excellent range of facilities and customer service as well as their contribution to raising professionalism in the accommodation industry.
General Manager of BLUE Sydney, Sanjay Umashankar, said of the win: "I am incredibly proud of the team here at BLUE Sydney. It is wonderful to be recognized for the excellence of both our people and our property. We are incredibly honoured and grateful to Tourism Accommodation Australia (NSW) for including us in their Awards."
