St.Hilliers Heavy Horse Field Days on This Weekend

St Heliers Heavy Horse Field Days
The annual St.Hilliers Heavy Horse Field Days will be held this weekend on Saturday 11th and Sunday 12 August 2012. This  is a great opportunity for you and the kids to see these gentle giants of the horse world going through there paces

St Heliers Heavy Horse Field Days was formed in 1996 and is a great weekend for people with an interest in breeds like Clydesdales, Shires, Percherons and Draught horses.

The event is held at the St Heliers expo grounds, Sandy Creek Rd, only a couple of minutes north of Muswellbrook in the Hunter Valley of NSW Australia .

For the heavy horse owner the competition is open to all heavy horse breeds. Events include lead, ridden, slide and long rein, ploughing and carriage events as well as a lot of fun with novelty events for everyone.

There is plenty for the public to see with attendances last year being over 70 heavy horses and well over 1500 interested public. There are stall holders selling arts and craft, antiques, heavy horse harness and memorabilia with plenty of food outlets to keep you satisfied over the weekend. There is also a 'Kids' Corner' with a horse shoe toss competition running throughout the weekend. With a community bonfire Saturday night and unpowered on-site camping site available for the traveller, you can now make a weekend of it.
