Upper Hunter Interactive Dairy Experience Features Bessie the Milking Cow

Bessie the Cow
Standing at 1.4 metres tall, ‘Bessie’ the replica Holstein-Fresian cow is the new star attraction at Muswellbrook’s Hunter Belle Cheese and is designed to give tourists an insight into dairying.

Minister for Tourism & Major Events, George Souris, recently launched the first phase of the Hunter Belle Cheese project that will, when completed, expand an educational experience, showcasing the entire dairy process from milking the cow to making and tasting butter, cheese and gelato. George Souris graciously performed the first official "milking" of Bessie, who MOOED all through the proceeding (yes, that was Mooed :). This exhibit is called "From Grass to Gelato".

Bessie, touted as Australia’s first life-sized replica cow that can be hand milked, will be permanently installed in a display that explains the milk production process.
