Free Travel Guides and Smart Phone Apps for Korea

Before heading off for an overseas holiday, it is best to a bit of background reading to gain an understanding of the country you are about to visit. For people travelling to Korea several new free guides have recently been released by the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO). 

A brand new Korea Travel Guide has been released along with several other guides to Korea's UNESCO World Heritage sites, a Korean Cuisine guide, and Korea's most Unique accommodations. 

There is also the handy 'Visit Korea' booklet of QR codes allowing visitors to research almost anything about travelling in Korea via the use of their smartphone.  The QR codes cover general information, culture & history, Korean cuisine, transport and accommodation, themed tours, shopping, destinations by region and much more.  It's a very handy in your pocket guide in conjunction with your smartphone when travelling Korea.

The newly launched Korea Travel Guide is a general guide to the country and gives information on the best destinations on offer to tourists as well as the arts and performances, DMZ and industrial tours and much more. The 130 page colour guidebook lists Korea's highlights and tourist attractions as well as general information on how to get around, where to stay, useful Korean phrases, maps etc.

World Heritage Sites of Korea
The 'World Heritage Sites of Korea' booklet is a great publication for visitors interested in Korea's lengthy history and culture.  With full colour photographs it details all of Korea's amazing array of World Heritage sites including not only the historical sites but also the natural world heritage sites as well.  There are recommended tour courses for each site.

The booklet on Korea's most unique accommodation options is great for those visitors looking for some unusual places to stay.  Detailing places like the Jirye Arts Village, the 400 year old Jeonju Hanok Village, traditional Korean guest houses (hanok), boutique hotels and unique resorts the booklet will help visitors to choose some unique places to stay in Korea instead of the usual hotel room. 

Just about everyone's favourite reason to travel to Korea these days is to enjoy Korean cuisine.  The booklet 'Korean Cuisine - Refresh Yours Senses' gives you a complete understanding of Korean food and how it is served with many side dishes, one of which is Kimchi - Korea's most iconic foodstuff.  It also covers topics like Buddhist Temple food, Royal cuisine, street food, food festivals and recipes for some of Korea's most popular dishes you can try at home.
