New Cookbook Features Wollongong Recipes

Wollongong
A new cookbook has been released by Tourism Wollongong called ”We Love the Gong: EAT”. This new cookbook is a tribute to the people, places and plates that make up Wollongong's exciting food scene.

Captured by the cookbook's inspiring visuals and user-friendly format is the vast array of food experiences that fuse traditional Aussie favourites with Wollongong's rich multicultural mix and sun, surf and sand lifestyle.

Tourism Wollongong General Manager Greg Binskin said he is thrilled to be able share the secrets of the Gong's diverse dining establishments with locals and visitors alike.

"This exciting new book demonstrates there is a lot more to Wollongong and its surrounds than our spectacular coastline and the Grand Pacific Drive," he said.

"We believe there are lots of reasons to stop and explore the great dining options available in the Gong, from creative recipes and great local produce to the wonderful personalities behind our best eateries," he said.

The book dedicates a double page spread of inspiring words and images to each of the 27 included restaurants, cafes, markets and community gardens, along with a profile of the establishment's chef, cook or owner, and most importantly, his or her signature recipe.

EATers can learn how to prepare favourites such as 'Market Fish and Hand-cut Chips' from the iconic beachside café Diggies, 'Duck and Mushroom Lasagne' from Lorenzo's Diner and 'Tempura Oysters with a Porter Shot' courtesy of The Illawarra Brewery.

We Love the Gong: EAT is proudly 100 per cent local, and has been designed using the talents of local suppliers, including graphic designer, Stan Crinis, freelance journalist Erin O'Dwyer, chef-extraordinaire and recipe checker Elise Pascoe and photographers Aaron Crinis and Dee Kramer.
