West Lake |
Hangzhou lies 195 km southeast of Shanghaiat the south end of the historic Grand Canal and the lower reaches of the Qiangtang River. Vegetation here is lush and verdant and the weather is notably mild. As one of the six ancient capital cities in China, Hangzhou is also a city with a great number of cultural relics and heritage sites.
West Lake
Mountains with luxuriant trees and flowers surround Hangzhou's West Lake. Ancient pavilions, terraces, and gardens-within- gardens have been built on its islets. Amidst the stone pagodas and teahouses, temples, caves and hidden springs within the lake, you'll feel as though you are a figure in a traditional Chinese painting.

The Lingyin Monastery (Monastery of Soul's Retreat) at the foot of Lingyin Mountain, Hangzhou is one of the 4 famous Monasteries at West Lake and one of 10 well known Buddhist temples in China.
Shaoxing
Located 64 km from Hanghzou, Shanoxing is another famous cultural city. It was the capital city of the State of Yue from 770 to 476 B.C.. Lakes are scattered all over the city and covered boats travel along the crisscross river. Points of interest include Lan Pavilion, Tomb of Dayu and the Lu Xun Museum.
