Clue 3: Here you’ll find one of the most scenic unmanned railway stations, located on a cliff in the middle of a lake.
Clue 4: One of my castles was home to Tokugawa Ieyasu, one of the great unifiers of Japan. In spring, around 360 cherry blossom trees burst into shades of pink and white.
Clue 5: This area is also famous for freshwater eel farming and therefore one of the best places to try unagi. Charcoal-grilled and covered in a sweet and savoury sauce on a bed of rice, it’s a popular dish to eat in summer.
