Find stillness at this sacred site...

Mt Haguro is one of the Three Mountains of Dewa in Yamagata Prefecture. Travelling to these three long-revered mountains is believed to be a journey of reincarnation. 

Starting at Zuishinmon Gate walk the 1.7-kilometre route to Sanjingosaiden Shrine at the summit of Mt Haguro. 

On the journey look for the five-storey pagoda that lies amongst towering cedar trees, some of which are a thousand years old.

Wind down from your journey at Ninosaka Chaya teahouse and enjoy the splendid view of the Shonai plains.
