New hotels in Lake Tahoe, California/Nevada

Desolation Hotel
Lake Tahoe is a large freshwater lake in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, located on the border of California and Nevada.

It’s known for its beaches and ski resorts. On the southwest shore, Emerald Bay State Park contains the 1929 Nordic-style mansion Vikingsholm.

Along the lake’s northeast side, Lake Tahoe Nevada State Park includes Sand Harbor Beach and Spooner Lake, a gateway to the long-distance Tahoe Rim Trail.

New properties in South Lake Tahoe include :

The Desolation Hotel

The newly opened Desolation Hotel places a focus on 'nature, sustainability, and luxury'.

Its name refers to the Desolation Wilderness to the east, and the 21-unit hotel stands on the site of the former Tahoe Villa.

The Desolation Wilderness is a 63,960-acre federally protected wilderness area in the Eldorado National Forest and Lake Tahoe.

The crest of the Sierra Nevada runs through it. The few trees that were removed to build the hotel can be seen in the structural supports.

Hampton Inn & Suites

Hampton Inn & Suites on Lake Tahoe Blvd is less than a mile from the beach and the Heavenly Gondola, which offers a 2.4-mile ride up in the Heavenly Mountain.
