The Madeira Archipelago
Madeira is a small Portuguese archipelago located in the Atlantic Ocean, with the main and only inhabited being Madeira and Porto Santo.
Of volcanic origin, its location provides a mild climate and sea with pleasant temperatures all year round.
In addition to its beaches the landscape offers areas of mountains, valleys and cliffs covered by Laurissilva vegetation.
Madeira Ocean & Trails will spotlight nautical activities including surfing, diving, sailing, dolphin and whale watching and open water swimming along with and the mountain trail running, hiking, mountain biking and canyoning activities available.
The European Championships for underwater photography 3 to 8 October 2022
Madeira stages the European Underwater Photography and Video Championship and the 1st Open Madeira of Underwater Photography and Video on the island.
Oceanman Madeira 10 and 11 October 2022
Madeira will host one of the most important open water circuits for the first time.
Designed by swimmers for swimmers, the competition will take place over two days with swimming competitions in the sea of Funchal.
Up to 1000 swimmers are expected to take part in races ranging from 1.5 to 30km. www.madeiraallyear.com
