Enjoy the annual rice straw art installations

Uwasekigata Park is not just popular for its ever-changing landscape as different seasonal flowers bloom– sakura (cherry blossoms) in spring, sunflowers in summer – because come autumn (early September to end October), the spacious urban park turns into a spot also known for its annual rice straw art installations.

Gigantic figurines made with dried rice straw, representing everything from monsters to animals with impressive accuracies and liveliness, are displayed around the park like a unique open-air museum.

You can spend a day picnicking, hiking, or simply finding your favourite straw creature to hang out with.
