Yesterday, Melbourne & Olympic Parks (M&OP), home of the Australian Open Tennis Championship, has for the first time revealed features of its new world-class function and media centre at the Asia Pacific Incentives Meetings & Event (AIME), held in Melbourne on 18–20 February 2019.
Through an exclusive immersive experience, the features of the new centre were showcased through a series of elements; touching on space, taste, design and exceptional service – all within a monumental white cube.
On arrival, AIME delegates were greeted with Australia’s world famous hospitality, before being guided through the four metre high cube that showcased the centre’s unique perspective and event space. AIME delegates discovered.
Victoria’s iconic produce, championed by local culinary heroes, getting a first taste of the unique menu celebrated at the precinct. Delegates also experienced the vast space of the new centre through a bespoke mirror illusion.
”We are definitely unmissable on the showroom floor, exactly like our new function and media centre will be when it opens. Inside the cube is an artistic representation of the centre told through sensory touch points, including bespoke soundscapes, projections, illusions and structural intent. Feedback so far has just been “wow””, said Lara Burnes, General Manager, Premier Events & Experiences, M&OP.
Opening in 2022, M&OP’s new events centre will pay homage to the Australian landscape, and promises to elevate the parks’ capabilities yet again to sit alongside some of the world’s most famous venues.
Currently in the third and final stage of its $972 million redevelopment, the new centre will be civic in design and an architecturally impressive function centre that is quintessentially Melbourne. It will include 8m-high ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows that will project natural light across a generous 2000sqm pillarless ballroom and 800qm pre-function area. On two levels, the top floor will feature a 250-seat auditorium, an abundance of breakout rooms and an outdoor terrace with uninterrupted views of the Melbourne city skyline.
Don’t miss out on your chance to experience the new function and media centre at the M&OP stand. Limited bookings available. For expressions of interest, please contact Lara Burnes at lburnes@mopt.vic.gov.au. For more details on the redevelopment visit melbournepark.com.au.
