The NSW Government has strengthened ties with Indian tourists, signing a new two-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with India’s largest online travel agency, MakeMyTrip.
Minister for Tourism and Major Events Adam Marshall said the formalised agreement was an initiative to ensure NSW continued to be Australia’s number-one destination for Indian travellers.
“NSW is the first in Australia to sign an MoU with MakeMyTrip, India’s leading online travel agency,” Mr Marshall said.
“Our relationship with MakeMyTrip is helping boost tourism across the State, with campaign activities delivering a combined $11 million in overnight visitor expenditure to NSW.”
While the MoU will focus on travel to Sydney, it will also attract tourism to regional destinations including Coffs Harbour, the Blue Mountains, Hunter Valley, Port Stephens, Kiama and more.
The MoU will drive tourism to NSW from Indian cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad and Bangalore through training and familiarisation programs for Indian travel agents, and marketing campaigns promoting NSW travel.
