The 9th Annual “Itchin’ to Pick” returns to Louisville the weekend of Friday March 27th and 28th at the Galt House Hotel.
“Itchin’ to Pick” brings together musicians and music lovers for a weekend of “pickin’ ” and fun times for hundreds of bluegrass musicians and fans from approximately a 150 mile radius of Louisville.
Whether you are an accomplished musician or a complete beginner, this event has a lot to offer at a suggested donation of $5.00 which covers both Friday and Saturday.
Musicians of all levels attend and are encouraged to join in the jam. This is a chance for pickers and fans to meet and interact. While most of the music is Bluegrass, other genres are often played.
Says organizer George Garrett, “Attending this event is a great way to perhaps receive a free lesson from an experienced musician as a means to perpetuate our Kentucky heritage, culture and Bluegrass music education.”
There are no scheduled stage shows but an abundance of “at will” picking amongst the group as the music continues throughout both days at various locations within the Galt House. There is an information table in the Galt House lobby.
The event will officially “kick off” at 6PM on Friday March 27th and goes the entire weekend. Says Garrett, “ Yes, even into the “wee hours” of the morning, if not all night long for some of the musicians.”
