The three videos show a “real” family of six people sharing their journey on board and exploring Tasmania.
“We chose Natalie Birt, an Australian family blogger who writes for mummysmiles.com and her family to follow an itinerary that we developed to show people the best of what Tasmania has to offer in a way that cannot be conveyed in a 30 second ad,” Bernard Dwyer, CEO Spirit of Tasmania, said.
“The emotions are real, the fun and happy times they share are real and even the kids getting a bit tired is real,” he said.
“We were careful to try to keep these videos as true to what happened as possible.
“The Birt family only had to follow the itinerary we set out for them – and of course agree to our camera crew following their every move.”
Mr Dwyer said Spirit of Tasmania's unique advantage over other modes of transport to Tasmania was the ease and convenience of being able to take your car on driving holidays.
“The videos were timed with the release of our current offer “Travel by Sea and Kids go Free” – which launched this week,” he said.
Mr Dwyer said the driving-holiday videos were created for families to be able to relate to travel in a way that they can – by watching another family and being able to connect with them.
“We wanted to engage with our customers,” he said.
The first video starts with the family boarding the ship, settling in and preparing for their journey over three days.
Day one shows the family arriving at Elizabeth Town for a hearty breakfast at Christmas Hills Raspberry Farm and stocking the boot with picnic goodies from Ashgrove Cheese Farm, getting up close and personal with Tassie Devils at Tasmania Zoo in Launceston and getting ready for the thrill of a lifetime with zipling adventures at Hollybank Treetops Adventure.
The road trip continues on day two with a picnic lunch at Richmond Bridge in the south and a tour through historical Port Arthur, the best spot for a “family selfie” (according to Natalie) at the top of Mount Wellington and then finishing up with fish and chips in one of Hobart's best local spots at Mures.
On to Mount Field National Park for day three where the Birt family enjoy the natural, pristine beauty of Russell Falls, scream and squeal their way through the world's largest maze complex in Tasmazia at Promised Land and indulge in pure waffle and hot chocolate goodness at the House of Anvers in Latrobe.
“The focus of these short under-two-minute videos are to highlight just how much fun families can have on a touring holiday in Tasmania with their own car,” Mr Dwyer said.
“There are 3D maps, driving distances and approximate times, as well as each operator's website included in the videos.
