State President Truong Tan Sang and Deputy Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan on February 16 led the celebrations kicking off the annual flower street festival in Ho Chi Minh City.
Also in attendance at what has evolved into one of the nation’s most beloved Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday destinations were Secretary of the HCM City Municipal Party Committee Le Thanh Hai along with tens of thousands of Vietnamese and international guests.
This year’s flower street, lined with more than 120,000 baskets of masterfully decorated flower arrangements, stretches nearly 700m on Ham Nghi Road in District 1 beginning at the Quach Thi Trang Roundabout near Ben Thanh Market and ending at Ham Nghi Road.
The kick-off featured a floral arrangement inspired by the goat of Ninh Binh, the symbol for the New Year, and other decorations accentuating the beauty of the Vietnamese countryside.
I really enjoyed the festive atmosphere and visiting HCM City during the special holiday said Mr. Arnold from France, adding that he wished everyone a healthy and happy New Year.
The festival runs until February 22.
