Perfect for smaller corporate events or pre-dinner drinks and canapés, the Star cabins are easily one of the city's most unique event spaces. Event guests at the Melbourne Star Observation Wheel can enjoy the 30-minute ride on the Southern Hemisphere's only giant observation wheel, with the experience further enhanced by tailored in-cabin catering.
The Melbourne Star's exclusive caterer, Peter Rowland Catering, takes bookings for all of the Star's dedicated function spaces, designed to host both large and small gatherings, from cocktails for 400 guests to a sit-down dinner for up to 250 people. The Star Piazza, at the base of the Star, also has the capacity to host a cocktail reception for up to 1500 people, making it one of Melbourne's largest open-air event venues.
Since Melbourne Star's opening in December 2013, Melbourne Star Management Group has continued to see significant interest and bookings from businesses and organisations searching for a unique special events and functions space.
“Both Peter Rowland Catering and ourselves have been delighted at the continued level of interest,” Melbourne Star Management Group CEO Chris Kelly said.
“Clearly there is very strong support for a venue that can provide a distinctive and memorable guest experience, underpinned by exceptional dining options and impeccable service.
“Whether it's enjoying the spectacular views and informative in-cabin commentary with a glass of pre-dinner champagne or with a special lunch hamper during a meeting break, Peter Rowland Catering and Melbourne Star work together to deliver inspired solutions for all events and functions, large and small,” Mr Kelly said.
He said the Melbourne Star has cemented its place as an integral part of the city's business events and destinations programme and showcased the city like no other venue.
“Guests, both Melburnians and visitors to the city, are telling us the Star gives them a new perspective on the city, through the views and information provided as part of the Star experience, which highlights Melbourne's history, special features and many eccentricities,” Mr Kelly said.
Guests on the Melbourne Star enjoy uninterrupted 360-degree views for up to 40 kilometres, encompassing the Docklands precinct, Melbourne's CBD, Port Phillip Bay and as far as Mount Macedon, Arthur's Seat and the Dandenong Ranges. At 120 metres high, the Melbourne Star is double the height of the West Gate Bridge carriage way and equivalent to a 40-storey building.
