University of Sydney to Illuminate a Vivid Path to the Future

The University of Sydney will once again be transformed into an interactive canvas of light, live performance and inspiring ideas during Vivid Path to the Future, an expanded week-long creative program held as part of Vivid Sydney.

Destination NSW Chief Executive Officer Sandra Chipchase said she was delighted the University of Sydney would return for this year's Vivid Sydney, the Southern Hemisphere's largest festival of light, music and ideas, following the success of the institution's first program in 2014.

“The inaugural Vivid Path to the Future saw the University of Sydney open its doors to creative thought leaders, artists, students and visitors to participate in workshops, public tours and to see the vibrant light projections illuminating the University's historic architecture,” Ms Chipchase said.

“I'm delighted to announce that in addition to participating in this year's festival, the University of Sydney will present an expanded program of light, music and ideas, the three creative pillars of Vivid Sydney.

“Highlights of this year's light program include spectacular 3D-mapped projections on the University's Quadrangle façade, a Light Walk stretching along the main promenade and the public art installation Sea of Hands which will grow throughout the festival,” she said.

Vice-Chancellor of the University of Sydney, Dr Michael Spence said the event was an opportunity for the local community, as well as staff, students and alumni, to enjoy the campus.

“The response from the University community to last year's collaboration with Vivid Sydney was incredible and we look forward to celebrating the creative work of our own people and the creative community on campus once again,” Dr Spence said.

Expressions of Interest (EOI) are being sought from University of Sydney students, staff, alumni and the wider creative community who are invited to submit innovative designs for the Vivid Path to the Future Light program.

The closing date to submit Expressions of Interest is Friday 13 March, 2015. For more information and a copy of the EOI visit www.sydney.edu.au/vivid.
