Terrain Training Australia today announced that the Obstacles Gone Mad! event series will be heading to the Whitsundays this year.
Terrain Training Australia Owner Shane Elisara said he was excited to take the event to the Whitsundays.
“The event is a fun fitness challenge and participants have to climb up ropes, crawl through nets, travel along monkey bars and crawling through mud pits to conquer the 5km or 10km obstacle course,” Mr Elisara said.
“On the day, there will also be a special obstacle course designed for kids, as well as lots of entertainment and other activities for spectators,” he said.
“It is all about having a lot of fun with family and friends and participation is open to everyone looking to try something new.”
Whitsundays Marketing and Development Limited (WMDL) Executive Director Jeff Aquilina said the event was a great addition to the region’s event calendar.
“Sporting events and in particular obstacle course racing has grown in popularity in recent years with many people travelling far and wide to participate in these events ,” Mr Aquilina said.
“We are excited that the Whitsundays will host one of the Obstacles Gone Mad! events and are confident that it will attract many visitors to our region,” he said.
“Events form a central part of our marketing strategy for the Whitsundays region and we are always looking at ways to attract and support new events in partnership with Tourism and Events Queensland and the Whitsunday Regional Council.”
Early Bird registration is now open until 15 February 2015 with tickets on sale for $79 per adult, $30 per child (4-11 years) and $25 for spectators.
