KOREA TOURISM SET TO ENTICE BUYERS AT AIME2015 IN MELBOURNE

Korea Tourism Organization is planning a large Korea Pavilion at AIME2015 (24-25 February) to entice buyers at the exhibition to host their next meeting, incentive, conference or exhibition in Korea. Buyers will be able to meet with meetings experts from Korea Tourism Organization and twelve destination management companies, convention bureau and hotels on the Korea stand B100.

Korea Tourism Organization stand sharers at AIME2015 include Seoul Tourism Organization, Lotte Hotel Seoul, Busan Metropolitan City and Busan Tourism Organization as well as destination management companies including Aju Incentive Tours, Etourism Co. Ltd., Holiday Planners Co. Ltd., Holidaylink DMC, US Tours & Travel, Jane Tour & DMC, Kim’s Travel, KR Travel and Wow Corea Tour.

The Korea pavilion will offer a great introduction to Korea's MICE destinations, venues and facilities as well as expert advice for prospective buyers planning to host their next meeting or incentive in Korea. There will be some interesting hands on activities taking place on the stand for buyers and visitors including artistic postcard making as well as making your own bracelet with a Korean knotting style activity.

According to UIA statistics Korea was ranked third for the number of international meetings in 2013. Korea is on the fast track to become one of the top destinations for MICE events. MICE space in the country has expanded 70% since the year 2000 and more facilities are being developed in key hubs to boost the industry.

Korea has had much experience over the years hosting major world events like the ’88 Seoul Olympic Games, the 2002 FIFA World Cup and the G20 Summit in 2010 and Korea is now in preparation to host the 2018 Winter Olympic Games.

Korea will play host to some major exhibitions this year including the World Water Forum in Daegu in April 2015, the 31st International Congress on Occupational Health in June, and in August the International Small Business Congress and the Confederation of Asia Pacific Accountants (CAPA) Conference 2015 will be held. The World Allergy Congress 2015 is scheduled for October and the 2015 Asian Australasian Congress of Neurological Surgeons 2015 are among the many major meetings during the coming year.

Korea presently has nine major convention centers in cities throughout the country including Seoul and Jeju Island off the southern coast of Korea. Easy access to the country as well as convenient transportation such as the KTX Express train allows connecting between major cities within two and half hour range of Seoul.

Pre and post tours are a great attraction as visitors can immerse themselves in the remarkable cultural heritage and vibrant nature of Korea. Along with the healthy cuisine visitors can join in activities such as learning how to make traditional Korean ceramics, experience a night in a Korean temple or in a traditional Korean house (hanok), join a taekwondo training program or experience oriental medical treatments and beauty therapies.

Shopping is a big attraction for visitors to Korea and there is a wide variety of shopping choices including arcades, department stores, duty-free stores, designer outlets, outdoor markets etc. Only in Seoul you can practically shop 24hrs a day with all night shopping at Doota Shopping Mall until 5.30am.

Live theatre options are wide and varied including popular shows loved by tourists to Seoul like Nanta and Jump. Traditional Korean music and dance performances can also be enjoyed at places like Korea House and the Jeongdong Theatre.

Besides the normal tourist activities Korea also offers exciting adventures and the beauty of nature. Mountain hiking and climbing, river rafting, skiing and snowboarding are all very popular with visitors to Korea at different times of the year.

Korea Tourism Organization together with our stand sharers from Korea look forward to welcoming all buyers and visitors to AIME2015.
