Learn to Cook Truffles With Your Favourite Chefs

Truffles are the flavour of the season in Canberra and the capital region, so much so that celebrity chefs are travelling from across Australia and as far away as London to be a part of The Truffle Festival, Canberra & Capital Region.

Now in its sixth year, the Truffle Festival has invited internationally renowned chef Antonio Carluccio to be the festival's patron and experience the high quality Black Perigord truffle grown in the Canberra region.

Well known for the popular SBS show Two Greedy Italian Chefs, as well as his cook books and restaurant chain in London, Carluccio, also known as The King of Mushrooms, will be at several dinners, local farmers markets, cooking demonstrations and at a cooking class in the Canberra Region over the weekend of 25-26 July.

'It is extremely exciting for me to come to Australia and to be involved in the field that I love most and, with which I have a longer than 50 year relationship,' Carluccio said.

'Truffles are part of my fungi world, to which I dedicated all of my amateurish and then professional life. It will be very tremendous to show to Australians how much love one could dedicate to truffles once it is possible to show them the real use and maximum appreciation.'

Alongside Carluccio, The Truffle Festival is thrilled to announce an amazing line up of Masterclasses with former MasterChef contestants, who will run 10 different events throughout the festival, providing truffle enthusiasts an opportunity to learn how to cook a range of different cuisines with truffle and taste the results.

Dani Venn and Billy Law from MasterChef 2011 will be joined by Amina Elshafei, Mindy Woods, Kylie Millar and Audra Morrice from MasterChef 2012 during the festival. Runner up of MasterChef 2013, Lynton Tapp, will also be on hand to share his knowledge of Australian produce in his masterclass, while local semi-finalist Rishi Desai, of MasterChef 2013, will feature black truffles in a banquet-style Indian feast.

You can also taste and experience the prized truffle at more than 55 participating venues across the region during the festival, from 21 June until late August, at events ranging from gourmet degustation dinners, truffle dishes at cafes, pastries, cooking classes and demonstrations, wine tastings and matchings, farmers markets, truffle hunts and more.
