Ferrari Challenge World Circuit Races into Sydney

NSW has secured an Australian exclusive, the Ferrari Racing Days, with the renowned motoring brand introducing the event in 2014.

The Western Sydney event will include a round of the Ferrari Asia Pacific (APAC) Challenge series and will take place at Sydney Motorsport Park, Friday April 11-Sunday April 13, 2014.

“I am very pleased to announce that the NSW Government has secured Ferrari Racing Days exclusively for our State in partnership with Sydney Motorsport Park and Ferrari Australasia,” Minister for Sport and Recreation, Gabrielle Upton stated.

“Ferrari Racing Days will provide the opportunity for Ferrari owners and fans to gather and enjoy a range of track activities and entertainment, and experience the world of Ferrari, including an official Ferrari F1 show.

“There will also be a display of the latest complete Ferrari line-up and a demonstration of the classic Ferraris.

“Given its prestigious nature, this event is expected to attract thousands of domestic and international visiting motorsports fans.

“This is a truly international event with drivers and crews arriving from Japan, China, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and Korea.”

The Ferrari APAC Challenge is a motorsport championship event for Ferrari owners and is divided into two categories - experienced and novice drivers. It also involves more than 400 members of the Ferrari Club of Australia.

Organisers anticipate that the Ferrari APAC Challenge component of the event will include 30 individual teams driving Ferrari 458 Italia vehicles.

Minister for Tourism and Major Events, George Souris, said: “The Ferrari Challenge is a fantastic addition to the NSW sporting calendar and another great event for Western Sydney.

“NSW has gained a reputation for hosting some of the world’s best major international sporting events, particularly in the field of motor sports. In September it was announced that Western Sydney would become the home of Australia’s V8 motorsport thanks to a new agreement to host a Fan Day and a Round of the V8 Supercar Championship Series at Sydney Motorsport Park in February and August respectively, as well as the Grand Finale Round at Sydney Olympic Park in December 2014.

“Next year the popular Top Gear Festival will also return to Sydney Motorsport Park, 8-9 March, and of course V8 will gear up again for the 52nd year of Bathurst 1000, October 9-12, 2014.”

Sydney Motorsport Park's CEO Glenn Matthews said: “Sydney Motorsport Park is the perfect home for this event.

“To host the Ferrari Racing Days concept for the first time in Australia is unbelievably exciting.”

The event will include a round of the Ferrari Asia Pacific Challenge series.
