100% Pure New Zealand Out in Force at AIME

Conventions and Incentives New Zealand (CINZ) is joining forces with Tourism New Zealand in a bid to secure more business events for the country.

The two organisations will be working together on the 100% Pure New Zealand stand at the AIME 2014 (Asia-Pacific Incentives and Meetings Expo) in Melbourne on February 18 and 19.

“AIME is the must attend event in the Asia-Pacific region for the meetings and events industry and it is vital that New Zealand has a strong presence,’’ says CINZ chief executive Alan Trotter.

Key suppliers from across New Zealand will be joining CINZ and Tourism New Zealand on stand at AIME. They include Air New Zealand, the Auckland Convention Bureau, Business Events Wellington, Claudelands, Hamilton & Waikato Tourism, Heritage Hotels, Millbrook Resort, Millennium Hotels & Resorts, the Queenstown Convention Bureau, the Rotorua Convention Bureau, Rotorua Events & Venues, SKY CITY Auckland Convention Centre and the Langham Hotel Auckland.

“It makes perfect sense that CINZ and Tourism New Zealand’s business events arm should work together with our partners to ensure that delegates attending AIME leave impressed with the options and opportunities available in New Zealand for meetings, conferences and incentive travel.’’

CINZ has been at the forefront of attracting business events to New Zealand for many years but the government has recently set aside $34 million over four years so that Tourism New Zealand can help grow the business events sector.

It is running a ‘100% Pure New Zealand - Beyond Convention’ marketing campaign that delivers the message that an event in New Zealand goes far beyond the usual – with a range of unique experiences, set against stunning landscapes and welcoming people ready to host any event.

As part of their new marketing push Tourism New Zealand has appointed a business events manager based in Sydney, Australia. Helen Bambry will work closely alongside CINZ’s own Sydney-based manager Sharon Auld and executive, Heidi Heming to help Australian event organisers bring business to New Zealand.

“The Australian market holds enormous potential so it is great we can work together to help bring new business New Zealand’s way,’’ says Ms Auld.

AIME will give CINZ and Tourism New Zealand a platform to promote New Zealand’s new business events venues, including the planned new Auckland and Christchurch convention centres, and an opportunity to capitalise on the interest generated by the second instalment of The Hobbit Trilogy, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, which was shot entirely in New Zealand.

Delegates visiting the 100% Pure New Zealand stand on the first afternoon of AIME will be treated to some of New Zealand’s finest wines from Cloudy Bay.

They will also have the chance to sign up to attend New Zealand’s own business events expo, MEETINGS, which is being held in Auckland in June.
