Mt Buller Honours Jakara Anthony – The Slope That Shaped a Champion

Jakara Anthony
A Special Tribute on the Slopes

Mt Buller has paid tribute to one of Australia’s greatest winter athletes, Olympic champion Jakara Anthony, by renaming the top of the iconic Chamois run the Jakara Anthony Mogul Course. The renaming ceremony took place on Saturday, August 30, amid the biggest snowstorm of the 2025 season, with light snow falling as the community gathered to celebrate Jakara’s remarkable achievements.

The slope now bearing her name holds a special significance. It is the very course where Jakara trained, competed, and honed the skills that propelled her to international success.

From Local Hero to World Champion

Jakara Anthony’s journey from Mt Buller to the world stage is a story of dedication and passion. She made her Olympic debut in 2018, before claiming gold at the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics. Her dominance continued with multiple Crystal Globes, over 40 World Cup podium finishes, and an extraordinary 2024 season where she recorded 14 victories from 16 starts – the most successful mogul skiing season in history.

Cutting the ribbon at the ceremony, Jakara thanked the Mt Buller community for its unwavering support. “A big thank you to everyone who’s been part of the journey and continues to support me along the way. It means the world and thank you so much for the honour of having this course named after me,” she said.

A Community Celebration

The renaming event was attended by family, friends, and a sea of yellow-clad Team Buller athletes, along with Buller Ski Lifts board member Monica Grollo, who expressed pride in the resort’s connection to Jakara’s success.

“We are so proud to name the Jakara Anthony Mogul Course in recognition of Jakara’s incredible achievements and her lifelong connection to this mountain,” she said.

The ceremony was perfectly timed, taking place just hours before Jakara competed in her favourite Mt Buller event, the ABOM Mogul Challenge, adding another chapter to the mountain’s rich skiing history.
