The Sri Lanka Pavilion at Expo Osaka 2025 has become a hub of cultural discovery and business engagement, drawing enthusiastic crowds from Japan and around the world. As part of its ongoing efforts to highlight Sri Lanka’s unique offerings, the Pavilion successfully hosted a series of seminars on Ceylon Tea, spices, and Ayurveda, enhancing the visitor experience while promoting the island nation’s heritage and trade potential.Seminars Highlighting Sri Lanka’s Signature Products
The seminars were conducted by the Pavilion staff with the support of Sri Lankan-run companies based in Japan, including Nelsons Tea Ltd, Mind Reading Japan Ltd, and Samurai Lanka Trading Ltd. These sessions introduced visitors to the rich legacy of Ceylon Tea, the island’s renowned spices, and the ancient wellness practices of Ayurveda.In addition to presentations and Q&A sessions, the seminars featured video screenings such as the historic speech delivered by the late President J.R. Jayawardene at the San Francisco Peace Conference in 1951, a reminder of Sri Lanka’s longstanding ties with Japan. The seminars not only educated visitors but also created meaningful cultural connections, strengthening the relationship between the two nations.
A Showcase of Tourism, Trade, and Wellness
As the official partner of Expo 2025, the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB) coordinates the Pavilion’s activities in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Embassy in Japan, Export Development Board, Ministry of Trade and Commerce, National Gem and Jewelry Authority, and other government agencies. Together, they aim to position Sri Lanka as an attractive global destination for leisure, wellness, and investment.Running from 13 April to 13 October 2025, Expo Osaka is expected to welcome more than 28 million visitors. For six months, the Sri Lanka Pavilion will spotlight the island’s top attractions, from pristine beaches and cultural heritage to eco-tourism and wellness retreats. Visitors can enjoy the famed Ceylon Tea at the Pavilion’s tea counter, sample spices, explore handicrafts, and discover the benefits of Ayurveda and coconut-based products.
Cultural Performances and Special Celebrations
The Pavilion is also hosting a wide range of cultural performances, B2B meetings, investor forums, and promotional events focused on Ayurveda, gems, jewelry, and spices. These activities not only highlight Sri Lanka’s cultural identity but also strengthen its image as a hub for trade, tourism, and innovation.A major highlight was the celebration of “Sri Lanka Day” on 27 September 2025. This special event featured traditional performances by Sri Lankan artists, offering visitors a vibrant display of music, dance, and culture, further cementing the Pavilion’s reputation as one of the most dynamic at Expo Osaka.
