Sri Lanka Convention Bureau (SLCB), the nation’s leading body for event planning and promotion, has launched a dynamic educational drive aimed at university students to strengthen Sri Lanka’s Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) industry. This milestone initiative is part of SLCB’s broader mission to position Sri Lanka as a premier global destination for business events.On July 3, 2025, SLCB hosted a MICE Tourism Training Session at Hilton Colombo Residences, bringing together students from more than ten leading universities and colleges in the Western Province. The full-day program featured expert insights, interactive learning, and hands-on group activities, equipping students with the tools to shape the future of MICE tourism.
Building Knowledge Through Expert Insights
The educational session featured prominent industry speakers including Mr. Tharindu Karunarathne, Dr. Shaffaath Amidon, Ms. Felicia Adhihetty, and Mr. Dileep Mudadeniya. Discussions emphasized digital marketing, artificial intelligence, creativity, innovation, sustainability, and the long-term influence of legacy in MICE tourism.Mrs. Achini Dandunnage, Acting General Manager of SLCB, opened the session with a keynote speech highlighting the importance of collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and education in developing the MICE sector.

Participants not only absorbed valuable insights but also demonstrated their own creativity and understanding through group presentations.
