Thailand Expands Digital Reach with Baidu Partnership

Thailand Expands Digital Reach with Baidu Partnership
As Thailand continues to position itself as a premier global travel destination, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has entered into a strategic partnership with Beijing Baidu Netcom Science Technology. This collaboration, formalized through a Letter of Intent (LOI), aims to enhance Thailand’s appeal among Chinese travelers by leveraging Baidu’s artificial intelligence and digital marketing expertise.

The partnership aligns with the Amazing Thailand Grand Tourism and Sports Year 2025 initiative, a government-backed effort to attract high-quality international tourists while promoting Thailand as a hub for world-class events, cultural experiences, and sports tourism.

TAT Governor Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool highlighted the significance of this agreement, stating, “This collaboration marks a key milestone in our long-term strategy to connect with Chinese travelers through innovative digital channels. With Baidu’s advanced AI capabilities and vast online ecosystem, we aim to strengthen Thailand’s brand positioning and attract quality visitors from China in 2025 and beyond.”

The agreement was officially signed on February 27, 2025, by TAT Deputy Governor for Marketing Communications Mr. Nithee Seeprae and Ms. Wang Yanli, General Manager of the Channels Ecosystem Cooperation Department at Baidu. The signing was witnessed by senior executives from both organizations, emphasizing the commitment to fostering closer tourism ties between Thailand and China.

As one of China’s leading technology companies, Baidu operates a comprehensive suite of digital services, including Baidu Search, Baidu Maps, and AI-powered applications that influence millions of travel decisions daily. Through this collaboration, TAT will gain access to Baidu’s deep insights into Chinese travel preferences, allowing for more personalized marketing strategies that resonate with potential visitors.

Ms. Wang Yanli expressed her enthusiasm for the initiative, stating, “Thailand remains a top destination for Chinese travelers. Through this partnership, we look forward to enhancing cultural exchanges and promoting Thailand’s diverse tourism experiences using Baidu’s cutting-edge digital tools.”

The partnership will focus on AI-driven travel content, targeted marketing campaigns, and digital engagement strategies tailored to Chinese tourists. By utilizing Baidu’s data-driven approach, TAT plans to highlight Thailand’s iconic landmarks, emerging destinations, luxury experiences, and immersive cultural attractions.

In 2024, Thailand welcomed over 35.54 million international visitors, with Chinese travelers making up a significant portion at 6.73 million arrivals. This makes China the largest inbound market, underscoring the deep-rooted travel ties between the two nations. With Baidu’s support, Thailand anticipates an even stronger influx of visitors, contributing to its ambitious tourism revenue goals for 2025.

The partnership signals Thailand’s commitment to embracing digital transformation in tourism marketing, ensuring that it remains at the forefront of Asia’s most sought-after travel destinations. By blending technological innovation with cultural heritage, Thailand continues to offer an unparalleled experience for global travelers.
