China Makes Travel Easier with Expanded Visa-Free Access

In a move set to make travel to China more accessible, the country has announced an expansion of its visa-free policy for ordinary passport holders. As of November 22, 2024, China will allow visitors from nine additional countries—Bulgaria, Croatia, Estonia, Romania, Japan, Latvia, Malta, Montenegro, and North Macedonia—to enter without a visa for business, tourism, family visits, or exchange programs. This extended visa-free access is available until December 31, 2025.

Along with this expansion, China has optimized its entry policies. Travellers from 38 countries (including the new additions) can now stay in China for up to 30 days, an increase from the previous 15-day limit. This applies to those visiting for various purposes such as tourism, family visits, business, or transit.

For those who don’t meet the visa-free requirements, traditional visa application processes will still apply.

This update is expected to boost tourism and business exchanges, making it easier than ever to explore China’s rich cultural heritage and dynamic cities.
