Room-Res Announces Matched Points Donation Campaign to Support RoundTrip Foundation Bakery School in Sri Lanka

At Room-Res, we are constantly inspired by the positive impact that the travel industry can have on both individuals and communities. As a proud sponsor of the Women in Travel Awards, we celebrated the incredible achievements and contributions of women in the Australian travel industry. This experience inspired us to reflect on the powerful role tourism can play in uplifting women in some of the destinations we travel to, especially those facing adversity.

It is with this spirit of empowerment that we are excited to announce our Matched Points Donation campaign in support of the RoundTrip Foundation’s Bakery School in Galle, Sri Lanka. This initiative provides a transformative opportunity for young women facing vulnerability due to sexual violence, poverty, and other socio-economic challenges. We are proud to partner with the RoundTrip Foundation to make a meaningful difference in their lives.

Empowerment Through Education and Skills Training

The RoundTrip Bakery School offers a comprehensive program that equips disadvantaged young women with practical skills in commercial baking. Beyond learning how to create delicious bakery products, students also receive English language classes—vital for working in the global tourism and hospitality industries. Galle, with its charming walled city and thriving tourism industry, provides an ideal backdrop for students to showcase their skills, with many finding employment in the bustling food scene. This is an inspiring example of how tourism can directly benefit the local community, creating opportunities where they are most needed.

Transformative and Sustainable Impact

What makes the RoundTrip Bakery School even more remarkable is its impressive track record in securing employment for its graduates. Through the RoundTrip Foundation’s extensive network within the Sri Lankan tourism and hospitality industries, over 90% of graduates are awarded internships that often lead to full-time positions. Many graduates find rewarding careers in the tourism sector, including in high-end hotels, airlines, and food services. This sustainable model provides the women with not only vocational skills but also the financial independence to support themselves and their families.

Join Us in Making a Difference

Room-Res is committed to supporting the RoundTrip Bakery School throughout 2025, but we wanted to go further than just providing financial aid. We wanted to share the inspiring work of this project with our wider community, and offer an opportunity for our agents and partners to directly contribute to its success. This is why we are launching our Matched Points Donation program, which allows Room-Res agents to donate points earned through our loyalty scheme.

For every point donated, Room-Res will double the value of that donation in monetary terms, which will then be directed towards the RoundTrip Bakery project. It’s a simple yet impactful way for agents to contribute to this transformative cause and make a real difference in the lives of young women in Sri Lanka.
